I have been very concerned about the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and have been very troubled by the lack of resources that are being allocated toward its prevention, care, and cure. That is the bad news.

The good news is, there are many dedicated social workers, activists, NGOs and CBOs who are doing wonderful work on a global scale. I tip my hat to all those great folks (activists, family members, patients, NGOs, CBos, to name a few) who are trying doing their very best to make a difference.

As we all know, Internet has helped improve the public awareness and communication among activists/organizations across the globe. However, most of the information exchange, discussion, debates, and collaboration still seem to take place using antiquated Internet tools: Email Lists, News groups (forums) or static (read-only) web sites. Those technologies are clearly not adequate for the effective and timely information exchange and collaboration needed to address this global crisis. I find these technologies to be grossly inadequate in meeting the ePublishing needs of our fellow activists & NGOs.

Well, so much for the bad news. I am pleased to present to you PreventAIDS.Org -an HIV/AIDS Prevention related community resource portal, equipped with a whole range of ePublishing tools.

If you have already taken PreventAIDS.Org forum for a spin, you may have already noticed that it is not a run-of-the-mill, static, programmer-driven website. It is a full featured Content Management System, designed to put its members in the driver's seat when it comes to supporting their ePublishing and/or networking needs. You will be delighted to see that there is no techie standing between your work and the Internet anymore! In other words PreventAIDS.Org is a cure for the common (html) code.

I have long felt that many NGOs, CBOs, and Activists would benefit from having access to such a full suite of easy-to-use ePublishing tools. I have also believed that if these activists and organizations did not have to rely so heavily on those (often costly) web-developers and/or content-developers, it would serve them rather well. Therefore, I invite you to make full use of many ePublishing tools that PreventAIDS.Org now places at your disposal. Of course, there are NO costs involved. :)
